So we buddied up with Cane Creek to do something about it. The result is an exclusive version of their 110 headset in a 1" threaded configuration.
We feel that this is not only a heck of a headset, but an absolutely spectacular value as well. The highest quality cups paired with their venerable ZN40 bearings. It comes with one "keyed" 5mm spacer, and two matching non-keyed ones. Please note that the ZN40 bearings do require a bit of break in.
